In 2016, Schools Not Prisons launched as a touring music and arts festival, bringing together multi-platinum recording artists, musicians, organizers, and young people across California and beyond to uplift local fights against mass incarceration.

This campaign fostered culture through solidarity, amplified grassroots efforts, and ignited an advocacy movement to shift public spending from punishment to education. Over time, the campaign evolved into a national digital platform, continuing to partner with youth-led and community-rooted organizations around the U.S. Through in-person and virtual events, digital campaigns, and branded partnerships, Schools Not Prisons became a space for imagination, resistance, and joy in the face of systemic harm.

At Revolve Impact, I served as a Digital Content Producer and Strategist for Schools Not Prisons.

I led the development of digital content strategies that amplified grassroots organizers and BIPOC-led movements, shaping the campaign’s voice across platforms and creating editorial and promotional assets for events, including a traveling music and culture festival rooted in abolitionist values.

I worked thoughtfully on strategic partnerships with celebrities and influencers whose platforms could be leveraged to gain support from audiences.

I also produced and curated a virtual direct-to-camera editorial series, created issue-driven editorial content, and managed day-to-day social media to build momentum around local and national calls to action. Before transitioning out of the company, I developed the foundational content plan and pre-production strategy for the upcoming Schools Not Prisons podcast.

power building through social media strategy

Through consistent and intentional content development, #SchoolsNotPrisons continues to educate and activate a national community of over 50,000 advocates.

Pre- and post-pandemic, the campaign has remained a key player in the digital fight against mass incarceration—using arts, culture, and storytelling to inform, inspire, and organize across platforms.
